My theme this year is action and adventure. Here are some ideas to help Dad feel forever young.
If you live in or visited Miami, relive the second boom of Miami through all its vices with the complete series of Mami Vice on DVD. Then book a trip to Miami Beach...so Dad can continue his fantasy.
Take him on the Ocean Force tour boat ride (info@oceanforceadventures.com) on actual speed boats used by CIA and DEA and tour the Biscayne Bay and see celebrity homes, Stiltsville and hear tall tales of political legends. If the tour is too pricey, take the Art Deco Walking Tour and visit spots where producers filmed regularly and your tour guide will share riveting stories of the Cocaine Cowboys.
If Sonny & Crockett confronted the vices of the Cocaine cartel in Miami Vice, then Scarface is a close encounter of a Cocaine Cowboy who rose to the top but came crashing down. It may be fictional but oh so close to reality. Buy the movie.
I still recommend booking a trip to Miami Beach--it's sizzling hot with hotel deals, topless women at South Beach, and plenty of art and culture to redeem yourself.
